Multiple Triad school districts cancel afterschool activities Tuesday due to weather

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Multiple school districts across the Piedmont Triad are making changes to Tuesday's schedule ahead of some potential flurries in the area.

Guilford County Schools
On Tuesday, GCS announced the one-hour early release. The district has canceled afterschool activities. ACES programs will dismiss at 4:30 p.m.
GCS has not yet announced any cancelations or delays for Wednesday and plans to evaluate roads overnight.

Due to reports by the National Weather Service for the increased potential for inclement weather, Guilford County Schools will release one hour early today, Tuesday, January 21. After-school activities are canceled and ACES programs will dismiss at 4:30 p.m. GCS staff will evaluate the roads overnight and communicate if there are any changes to the schedule accordingly.
The ribbon cutting at Foust elementary has been postponed.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
WS/FCS has canceled Tuesday's afterschool activities and events in preparation for the weather. Schools will let out as scheduled.

Due to a chance of winter weather, all after school activities and events are cancelled for Tuesday, January 21. If you use aftercare, check with your provider. We made this decision out of an abundance of caution. We apologize for any inconvenience. We will continue to watch the weather and let you know if there are any impacts for Wednesday later tonight.
Davidson County Schools
Davidson County Schools is releasing students one hour early on Tuesday with elementary schools dismissing at 1:35 p.m. and high schools dismissing at 2 p.m.

ATTENTION: Due to the potential for incoming inclement weather this afternoon, Davidson County Schools will be releasing 1 hour early today, Tuesday, January 21. Elementary schools will dismiss at 1:35pm, and middle and high schools will dismiss at 2:00pm. All after school activities are cancelled. Thank you, and stay safe.
Alamance-Burlington School System
ABSS has canceled all athletic practices and events for Tuesday, and Early College students will be released early at 3 p.m.

Due to a winter storm shifting toward our area, we expect winter weather in the Triad later this afternoon. As a result, Early College will release students at 3:00 PM today, and all athletic practices and events are cancelled. Staff at all sites may also leave at 3:00 PM and can coordinate with supervisors to make up time.
Randolph County Schools
Randolph County Schools has canceled afterschool activities for Tuesday.
