(WFRV) - In his first year on the Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot, former Brewers starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame alongside legendary Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki and Astros closer Billy Wagner. Receiving 86.8% of the 394 votes, Sabathia will be immortalized in Cooperstown on July 27 alongside Suzuki, Wagner and two veterans' committee choices, Dick Allen and Dave Parker. Marquette promotes Mike Broeker to take over as athletic director from the retiring Bill Scholl While he only spent 17 games with the Brewers in 2008, Sabathia made his mark in a dominant half-season in Milwaukee. Sabathia posted an earned run average of 1.65 with seven complete games, three of which were shutouts. He also recorded a Walks-Hits per innings pitched of 1.003. Sabathia's 4.9 (Baseball Reference) wins above replacement for the Brewers didn't just lead all pitchers on the staff, it led the entire roster.
