EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Are you an art and animal lover? A unique event offers the community a chance to support pets in need by purchasing one-of-a-kind art creations. The third annual Inspire Your Hearts with Art Day virtual auction, which is a collaboration between Friends of El Paso Animal Services and El Paso Animal Services, will feature paw-painted art pieces created by pets at the shelter, the City of El Paso said in a news release. The auction is now live and runs through Jan. 31. The City said that by using non-toxic paint, dogs and cats unleashed their creativity by walking across canvases, resulting in "vibrant, heartfelt masterpieces." These works of art are available for bidding, giving supporters a chance to own something truly special while making a difference in the lives of local homeless pets, the City said. The City said proceeds from the auction will benefit Friends of El Paso Animal Services, a nonprofit supported by the El Paso Community Foundation. The funds raised will directly support El Paso Animal Services’ community programs including the Pet Pantry Program, Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Clinics, and other initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for the over 23,000 animals the shelter cares for annually. “This event highlights the creativity and resilience of the animals in our care while giving the community an opportunity to support lifesaving efforts,” said Terry Kebschull, director of El Paso Animal Services. “We’re excited to share these unique pieces and make a lasting impact on the lives of shelter pets.”  For more information about the auction or to submit your bid, visit here.
