COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – More than 100 South Carolina National Guard soldiers have been activated as winter weather impacts the state. The SC National Guard said approximately 115 of its soldiers activated for state duty Tuesday will support the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and Department of Transportation with vehicle recovery teams. The SC National Guard said it has 14 vehicle recovery teams and 42 vehicles standing ready to help impacted communities. Teams are currently stages in nine counties across the state.
