BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Parish officials have enacted curfews as Louisiana has extremely cold temperatures and inches of snow. A Cold Weather Advisory was issued as dangerous wind chill values will be expected tonight and during the overnight hours. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until midnight Wednesday and an Extreme Cold Warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 9 a.m. Wednesday. Louisiana winter storm brings snow, extreme cold weather Tuesday Parish curfews for winter weather Ascension Parish The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gonzales Police Department are implementing a mandatory curfew for all residents from Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. to Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 6 a.m. East Baton Rouge Parish City of Zachary Zachary Police Department said it was implementing a curfew beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday at 6 a.m. Iberville Parish A curfew will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Travel is limited to essential reasons only. Livingston Parish Livingston Parish officials said a curfew is in place from dusk until Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. Only emergency and essential traffic is permitted. Those traveling to or from work or for other essential reasons are allowed on the roads, officials said. Pointe Coupee Parish Pointe Coupee Parish Government set a curfew to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22. Parish officials said the only exceptions will be for first responders and those traveling to and from work. This story will be updated as parish curfews are announced.
