President Trump on Tuesday said that the letter the former President Biden left him in the Resolute Desk was inspirational and nice, saying he appreciated the outreach. “It was a very nice letter. I could show it because I think it was a nice letter,” Trump told reporters. “It was a little bit of an inspirational type of letter. Enjoy it, do a good job. Important, very important. How important the job is.” The president added, “It was a positive, for him, in writing it. I appreciated the letter.” While taking reporters' questions in the Oval Office on Monday night, he discovered that Biden left him a letter in the desk when he left the White House earlier that day. He held up the letter with “47” on it to mark Trump’s second presidency. Trump reported to the press that he had opened the letter on Tuesday while taking more questions. Biden and Trump appeared to have a friendly conversation over tea at the White House on Monday morning, ahead of the swearing in. Biden greeted Trump by saying, “Welcome back” at the door to the executive residence. In his inaugural address, Trump took a few shots at Biden, saying, “We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home.” He later mocked Biden with an impression after the former president has claimed he thinks he could have beaten Trump in November.
