Howard County firefighters rescue dog from frozen pond

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Firefighters in Ellicott City battled frigid temperatures to rescue a dog Monday night.
According to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, firefighters responded to the 10800 block of Timber Lane after a dog had fallen through the ice of a frozen pond.
FORECAST: Bitter blast sticks around through Wednesday
Responders quickly rescued the dog from the icy conditions and reunited him with his family.

"As these cold temperatures continue, this is an important reminder of just how dangerous ice can be. If you have kids at home, talk to them about ice safety," the fire department said in a post on social media. "Falling through a frozen pond, lake, or river can kill you."
