ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The second person convicted after the death of Genesee County Sheriff Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello has been sentenced. Lyndsey Wilcox took a conditioned plea on a split sentence of no more than six months in jail and five years probation. She has already served over 260 days so she will no longer be incarcerated. She pleaded guilty to second-degree assault after a physical altercation at Batavia Downs involving her, Sgt. Sanfratello, and suspect Michael Elmore. On March 10, 2024, Wilcox and Elmore were escorted out of the casino by the sergeant after an argument. Authorities said Wilcox was physically combative with Sanfratello, who then placed her under arrest. According to investigators, Elmore tried to interfere and attacked Sanfratello. After a Taser was used unsuccessfully against Elmore, Sanfratello became unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The family of Sergeant Sanfratello was in court for her sentencing and read from statements. His daughter told Wilcox "It wasn't his time yet, but you made it his time, and that's not fair." Elmore pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter. He was sentenced last month to 20 years in prison.
