Evergy holding lowincome assistance event in Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Evergy specialists will be at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library to help Kansans file for the 2025 Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) on Wednesday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the library located at 1515 Southwest 10th Avenue, according to an Evergy press release. Evergy asks residents to bring proof of income for the past 30 days for all adult household members and to bring copies of current utility bills.
"Evergy is one of five utilities partnering with the Kansas Department for Children (DCF) and Families to help eligible Kansans receive assistance. LIEAP, administered through DCF, is a federally funded program that helps eligible households pay a portion of their home energy costs by providing a one-time per-year benefit."

To qualify, homes must have a person responsible for the heating costs of the home and the combined gross income of the home should not exceed 150% of the federal poverty level.
