Savannah/Hilton Head airport preps for possible winter weather closure

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is preparing for a possible closure due to the winter weather storm impacts that are expected in the area Tuesday evening.
As of noon Tuesday, the airport has canceled 8% of their outbound flights (7). They have also already canceled 18% of inbound flights (16 planes).
For Wednesday, the airport has already canceled 22% of their outbound flights (11 in total).
Atlanta has canceled only three outbound planes. Atlanta has 2% of inbound planes canceled (28) and five planes delayed.
There is only one airport with more canceled planes right now — Houston's airport.
Officials say flights could resume tomorrow if weather permits. At this time the airport does not have equipment for winter weather for runways in Savannah.
