SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe and New Mexico State Police arrested an alleged repeat shoplifter at a Target store on Monday. Carlos Vigil, 36, of Santa Fe, was met by police as he was leaving Target with a cart with stolen items inside, police said. Target Loss Prevention called police after reportedly seeing Vigil at the self-checkout registers, scanning and bagging some of the items in his cart but not all. The total amount of stolen and recovered items was valued at $522.40.  Vigil was arrested and charged with felony shoplifting (over $500) and resisting arrest.   Police said he had an active arrest warrant for his previous arrest on Jan. 5. During that incident, he was arrested for another felony shoplifting offense at Target and charged with shoplifting (over $500), resisting, evading an officer (3 counts), and concealing identity. The total amount of stolen and recovered items on Jan. 5 was valued at $739.34. Vigil was booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
