One person killed in twovehicle crash in Amelia County

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a death on Patrick Henry Highway in Amelia County.
At approximately 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, state police responded to a crash at the 11000 block of Patrick Henry Highway in Amelia County involving two vehicles that resulted in one person's death.
According to state police, a 2018 Honda CR-V -- driven by 78-year-old Paul Semtner of Blackstone -- was headed eastbound on Patrick Henry Highway when a tractor-trailer pulled in his lane and hit the car.
Semtner's 77-year-old wife, Marilyn Semtner, of Blackstone, was the front-seat passenger and died from injuries sustained in the crash. Paul Semtner was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both passengers were wearing seatbelts.
State police confirmed that there are charges pending against the 27-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Chesterfield, who was uninjured in the crash.
This crash is still under investigation by Virginia State Police.
