LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Tuesday! Another bitter cold morning is gripping the region on this Tuesday, with temperatures plunging well into the single digits once again. The entire ABC 36 viewing area remains under a Cold Weather Advisory through Wednesday morning, with wind chill values dipping as low as -5 to -15 degrees.
Tuesday: Light Snow Possible as Another Arctic Front Arrives
Later today, an arctic cold front will sweep through the area, bringing the chance of a few light snow showers or flurries. While snowfall isn’t expected to amount to much—with only a coating ins spots—temperatures will plunge even further after the front passes. Winds gusting 20-25 mph at times will exacerbate the cold, so bundle up if you have to be outside.
Wednesday Morning: The Coldest of the Arctic Blast
Wednesday morning will deliver the harshest temperatures of this arctic outbreak. Lows will range from near-to-below zero across much of the region, with wind chill values making it feel closer to -10 to -15 degrees. This dangerous cold calls for extra precautions: limit time outdoors, layer up, and make sure pets and vulnerable individuals are cared for.
By the afternoon, temperatures will improve slightly, climbing into the low-to-mid 20s. Skies will be mostly sunny, but it will still feel bitterly cold.
Thursday Night into Friday: Snow Showers Could Create Slick Spots
A weak system will move through Thursday night into Friday, bringing the chance of light snow showers or flurries. While snowfall amounts look to be minor, slick spots could develop for the Friday morning commute. Highs on Friday will remain in the low 30s, with lows dipping into the teens.
Weekend Outlook: Watching Another System
Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will moderate slightly, with highs climbing into the 40s on Saturday. Another system is expected to approach late Sunday into Monday, but details remain uncertain. At this time, rain and snow are both possible, depending on the track and timing of the system. Stay tuned to ABC 36 for updates as the forecast becomes clearer.
