KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man is dead after getting hit while trying to cross the street Monday night in Kansas City. Police said around 11 p.m. a pedestrian was hit while crossing Truman Road and Bennington Avenue. One dead after shooting on the east side of Kansas City Monday night According to the investigation, an unknown vehicle hit a pedestrian using a crosswalk to cross the street from north to south. The person driving the vehicle sped off from the scene, heading east. The pedestrian victim was taken in an ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later. Police did not release the pedestrian's identity.
