INDIANAPOLIS — A pregnant woman was shot five times on Sunday evening, according to court documents. Her unborn baby was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jeremy McBride, 36, was arrested on a preliminary charge of attempted murder, with additional charges expected to follow, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Jeremy McBride Officers were dispatched at around 6:11 p.m. on Sunday to a home on Pleasant Run Parkway Drive on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered six discharged cartridge casings, a bullet fragment and fresh blood. Emergency crews also confirmed that an adult female was shot multiple times in the home. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive. The unborn baby was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The mom was twenty weeks pregnant. Using license plate technology and witness statements, IMPD Southeast District Officers found the vehicle McBride was driving and arrested the suspect approximately 30 minutes after the shooting. Officers also found weapons while searching the vehicle. “This is truly a tragic incident, and I extend my sincerest condolences to all of those affected,” said IMPD Deputy Chief Kendale Adams. “The quick apprehension of this suspect is a testament to the invaluable information provided by our community members, the determination of our officers, and the diligent investigative work of our detectives. I also extend my gratitude to the prosecutor’s office for their swift review and the filing of appropriate charges," said Adams. This is an active investigation. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
