John Moritz joins CT Mirror as first energy and environment reporter
Jan 21, 2025
John Moritz has been named The Connecticut Mirror’s energy and environment reporter, the first to hold the position.
In his role, he will cover the environmental and energy sectors, including the government and quasi-public agencies that regulate and inform these sectors. He will also delve into the challenges Connecticut faces with respect to climate change.
Moritz will begin his work at the CT Mirror just as the 2025 legislative session gets underway, and he will be tracking and writing stories about proposed environment and energy bills with a focus on how they impact the people of this state.
“We are delighted to welcome John Moritz to the staff as our first full-time environment and energy reporter,” CT Mirror Executive Editor Elizabeth Hamilton said. “During his tenure as a reporter for CT Insider, John has established a reputation as one of the best reporters in Connecticut. He has a demonstrated interest and expertise in environment and energy issues, as well as a solid understanding of the politics that motivate and block legislative action on these issues.”
A Norwalk native, Moritz was previously a statewide reporter for Hearst Connecticut Media Group. Before that, he covered politics for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in Little Rock.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Temple University.
Moritz’s first day at CT Mirror is Tuesday.
