KANNAPOLIS, NC — Monday was not only inauguration day, but also Martin Luther King Junior Day.
The MLK junior dream day parade stepped off in Kannapolis Monday morning.
Local cheer and dance teams, marching bands, civic organizations and corporate groups participated.
The parade started at the intersection of Main Street and MLK Jr. Avenue and ended at city hall.
We caught up with people who come to watch every year – to honor Dr. King’s legacy.
“I think it’s important for black people to know their history and Martin Luther King is important in our history. He’s an icon in our history,” Randy Willis said.
After the parade, families were invited to participate in health fairs, an art contest and more.
