AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Part of the northbound side of Interstate 35 in far south Austin was closed early Tuesday morning after an 18-wheeler stalled out and started spilling fuel onto the road. Live Traffic Map The Austin Police Department said shortly before 7 a.m. several of its units responded to the 12000 block of south IH 35 northbound, where a commercial vehicle was stalled and leaking fuel. That's near the Onion Creek area. The interstate reopened around 8:20 a.m. That 18-wheeler crashed into a barrier on the side of the interstate. It's not clear if that crash was caused by road conditions, but ice on the roads across Austin has caused several crashes throughout the morning. Austin-Travis County EMS said medics have been responding to collisions throughout Austin and Travis County Tuesday morning. ATCEMS said people should avoid driving unless it's an emergency. Icy roads as winter storm brings snow, sleet Traffic was diverted onto the service road while the main lanes were closed.
