Hopewell man arrested on attempted homicide charges

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP — A township man was arrested on attempted homicide charges after police responded to multiple 911 calls from a Pleasant Valley Road address on January 19 at 3:49 a.m.
The suspect, Matthew Bonacci, 47, was apprehended near a wooded area on the property after officers received two calls — one reporting a disturbance outside the residence and another from inside the home.
Bonacci, a Pleasant Valley Road resident, faces charges of Criminal Attempt (Homicide), Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The victim was transported for medical treatment and is in stable condition.
Hopewell Township Police Department states there is no threat to public safety. The investigation continues and additional details are being withheld.
