INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man walked into Eskenazi Hospital with a gunshot wound early Tuesday morning. According to IMPD, around 1:35 a.m. officers were initially dispatched to Eskenazi on a report of a walk-in person shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. He was reported to be in critical condition. Police said two witnesses brought the victim to the hospital, and told officers that the shooting occurred in the 600 block of Woodrow Avenue. The witnesses also told police the victim was trying to break up a fight between two other individuals when the shooting happened. Officers searched the area for a possible crime scene. They found a blood trail and called for detectives. Police said this was an isolated incident. The witnesses were able to give detectives a description of the suspect.
