Marcus’ 4 a.m. Tuesday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A cold weather advisory remains in effect for the entire state through Wednesday morning.
This morning:
Bitter cold temperatures to greet you this Tuesday morning. By the time we get to daybreak, we will likely have subzero air temperatures and wind chills hovering between 10° to 20° below zero.
In addition, there might be a few light snow showers as we go through the morning hours.
Today:
Partly cloudy skies for the rest of the day; temperatures will struggle through much of the afternoon with highs only hitting the mid single digits and wind chill ranging between five below and 10 below zero.
Tonight:
Mainly clear skies as we head through the evening and overnight hours will allow for bitter cold temperatures again overnight. Expect Lowe’s to fall to near zero. Wind chill values will again range between -10 and -20°.
Wednesday:
Bitter cold temperatures will continue to start off your Wednesday morning. By the afternoon, the temperature should moderate slightly as we get more of a southerly flow moving into the Midwest. Temperatures will return to the low to mid 20s by late in the day.
Thursday:
A fast-moving cold front will move through late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. As of now, it doesn’t appear that there is a ton of snow in the forecast, but we could get a few slight and light snow showers across our area for the first half of Thursday.
Meanwhile, temperatures will warm back to the lower 30s by Thursday afternoon.
Warming trend this weekend:
A welcomed warming trend still appears to be in the cards as we head into the weekend. Saturday looks to be dry with mostly cloudy skies and highs into the mid and upper 30s. Sunday also looks to be near average with temperatures with highs into the mid-30s. We have some questions about precipitation chances for the end of the weekend and into early next week. There are some signs that another winter system will move through, potentially giving us a chance for rain and/or snow on Sunday and Monday. We will iron out those details as we get a little bit closer.
Most importantly, the long-term pattern it finally looks to be warming up. The 8 to 14 day outlook now finally calls for warmer than average temperatures as we head into the early portions of February.
