Multiple planets will be visible after sunset from the Central Valley

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – You may have heard about an interesting event happening in the evening sky, what some are calling a planet parade. You will be able to see several planets at once - without using a telescope.
About 45 minutes after sunset, which will mean at about 6 p.m. Pacific Time, head outside to check it out. Viewing will be best from 6 p.m. to just before 9 p.m.
The planets will be on the brighter side, but you may need to get away from light pollution to see better.
You will be able to see four planets without using binoculars or a telescope.
In the eastern sky, you can spot Mars. Higher overhead, there is Jupiter. To the southwest, you will be able to see Saturn and Venus very close together; Venus is the brighter planet of the two.
If you have access to a telescope, you will be able to find Neptune above Saturn and Venus; Uranus will be near Jupiter.
Mercury is visible in the morning, but the sun's glare will prevent you from seeing it.
If you head outside to view the planets, know that it will get chilly quickly during the evening hours this week. Plan for temperatures in the 50s by 6 p.m., then 40s by 9 p.m.
