(KRON) -- A woman escaped from suffering serious injuries, "or worse," when she darted out of her car moments before it was struck by a train in Oakley, police said.
Leading up to the collision, the woman noticed that her car was having mechanical problems around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and she drove off the road, police said. Her car stopped on railroad tracks and became stuck.
The woman spotted a train approaching and was unable to move her car, police said.
"The train hit the vehicle causing major damage to the vehicle," the Oakley Police Department wrote. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the woman was standing nearby and OK.
