Kansans may be feeling the frigid temperatures as arctic air comes through the Sunflower State. Lake Shawnee will soon see 3,500 pounds of trout Herrin encourages people to stay inside as much as they can to avoid any unnecessary exposure. "The biggest thing is just staying inside unless you absolutely have to go outside, especially tonight with it being very cold, wind chills are supposed to be, I think -20," Herrin said. "That is a very dangerous time anything that is exposed you don't have much time outside."  The Mayo Clinic provides a list of the following as symptoms of frostbite: Numbness. Tingling. Patches of skin in shades of red, white, blue, gray, purple or brown. The color of affected skin depends on how serious the frostbite is and the usual skin color. Cold, hard, waxy-looking skin. If you have been out in the elements for a while, it's important to get inside and remove any wet clothing. According to the Mayo Clinic, you should seek emergency care if you have intense pain even after taking pain reliever and rewarming, intense shivering, slurred speech, drowsiness and trouble walking.
