Seven minors got out of the car along with then-25-year-old Deangelo Saavedra who took off with a black backpack. He was eventually caught and the officers took Saavedra to their cruiser and started asking him questions. Several officers went to look for his backpack leaving one behind to watch Saavedra.Saavedra: "How much do I have to pay to let me go?"Officer: "Huh?" Saavedra: "How much do I have to pay to let me go?"Officer: "Alright, don't add that, don't add bribery."
He was asked about his bag again and contradicted what he previously told officers but his ruse didn't work. It was found in a bush over a fence close to the area where they found Saavedra. Inside, they found two handguns, at least 20 rounds of ammunition, a bag of meth, and a bag of cocaine.
Saavedra pled not guilty to six charges including drug trafficking, tampering with evidence, and bribery of a public officer. The minors, who all complied with APD's orders, were released.
