Blistering cold continues through midweek
Jan 20, 2025
After our biggest snow of the winter so far, we now get our coldest air of the winter so far.
Temperatures have already fallen into the single digits tonight, and may come close to zero tomorrow. While winds are light, any breeze at all could send wind chills below zero.
This is dangerous cold, please bundle up to the max! To make matters worse, the snowpack from yesterday’s snow is going to cause icy conditions the next few days.
Even with temperatures below freezing during the day, the sun will cause some snow melt which will then turn to ice at night.
Skies will be considerably cloudy by Tuesday afternoon, with highs barely getting to 20. Another frigid one tomorrow night as we head into Wednesday morning.
Dry weather is expected through the end of the week, and temperatures will moderate back towards the freezing mark as well.
Meanwhile, a historic winter storm for the Gulf states is taking shape, as plowable snow is possible from Texas through Louisiana and even into the Florida panhandle.
Parts of Georgia and the Coastal Carolinas will get in on the snow later tomorrow as well. This is possible because of how far south the Arctic blast has reached.
