Arrest made in fatal December St. John Parish crash involving bicyclist

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A man has been arrested in connection with a crash that left a bicyclist dead in St. John the Baptist Parish in December.
On Dec. 13, the Louisiana State Police reported that 61-year-old John Howard was trying to cross US 61 on his bicycle when he was hit by a Ford driving south in the right lane.

Howard was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Ford, identified by the LSP as 66-year-old Carlton Morris, was uninjured.
LSP officials said routine toxicology samples were collected at the scene.
On Monday, Jan. 20, the LSP reported that a warrant was issued for Morris' arrest after toxicology samples "indicated that Morris’ Blood Alcohol Content was over the legal limit at the time of the crash."
Arrest made after fatal Interstate 10 crash in New Orleans
Morris reportedly turned himself in and was booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish Jail on a charge of vehicular homicide.
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing.
