WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — A house fire closed State Road 32 on Monday night in downtown Westfield. The fire was reported just after 7:40 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of State Road 32/Main Street. The state highway is closed in both directions from just east of U.S. 31 to Carey Road. John Mehling, the public information officer for Westfield Fire Department, says the occupants of the home were being checked for any injuries. No firefighters have been injured. Temperatures in the single digits were hindering firefighters. Water being used to fight the fire was creating slick conditions and forcing firefighters to be exposed to the extreme cold. No cause for the fire has yet been determined. The road was expected to reopen by 11 p.m. Monday.
