El Paso Diocese to ordain 22 deacons this weekend

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The Diocese of El Paso will welcome 22 men into the Order of the Deacon this weekend.
A Mass of Ordination will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Catholic Church, 1700 George Dieter Dr.
Bishop Mark Seitz will preside over the ceremony."The candidates for ordination represent a diverse group of men who have answered God’s call to serve the Church and their communities as permanent deacons. Following years of prayer,discernment, and rigorous formation, these men are prepared to embrace their new roles inministry. As deacons, they will assist in the celebration of the sacraments, proclaim the Gospel,and dedicate themselves to works of charity, embodying the mission of Christ’s servantleadership," the Diocese said.
The 22 men to be ordained are: Michael Francis Alvarado; Carlos J. Barraza Pak; Felipe de Jesús Barraza; Román Bustillos; Alejandro Caballero Ramírez; Alberto Chávez Romero; Jesús Osvaldo Contreras; Pedro García Valdez; Ramon García; José María González; David Hernández; Arturo Jaimes Sr.; Fernando R. Jiménez Arévalo; Ricardo López; Robert Joseph Medina; Salvador Ramírez Jr.; Carlos Romo; Gabriel Saucedo; Cruz Torres Jr.; Jesús Emilio Torres; Louis A. Torres; and Guillermo Trejo Torres.
The ceremony is open to the public. It will also be live-streamed on the Diocese of El Paso's official Facebook page.
