Grumpy cat at HSPPR finds a home

(PIKES PEAK REGION) — A cat who had a rough start at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) found a new home during a miraculous meeting with a HSPPR volunteer.
On Friday, Jan. 17, one of HSPPR's matchmaking volunteers came in for her shift and her boyfriend stopped by on his way home to visit her. They decided to say hello to a grumpy cat who had a rough start and needed a little extra love.
Nemo was found by Animal Law Enforcement officers and he wasn't doing great, his right back leg was not working and he was underweight. HSPPR's veterinary team worked with Nemo but after much thought and care, the tough decision was made to amputate the leg. While the procedure was done to give Nemo a better chance at a happy life, the procedure was not easy for Nemo, who earned the reputation of a grumpy pants who spent most of his time sulking.
When the volunteer and her boyfriend stopped by to give Nemo a little extra attention, he stood up and walked over to them like he had known them his whole life. After some quality time, the volunteer realized she wanted to adopt him. Adoption however was a big decision, so she contacted a trusted advisor, her grandmother for advice.

According to HSPPR, the grandmother told the volunteer that if she didn't adopt Nemo, the grandmother would drive across the country and adopt him herself. Nemo was officially adopted by the volunteer on Friday.
