Now closed: Farmer's Creekside Tavern Inn in Le Roy
Jan 20, 2025
LE ROY, N.Y. (WROC) — Farmer's Creekside Tavern & Inn at 1 Main Street has been a staple of Le Roy for nearly 200 years.
Before it was a tavern, it was a hat factory, a bank office, and even had a few private residences. The picturesque place almost met its end, when in 2001, a fire nearly razed it to the ground.
That's when Sarah Farmer's father in law got to work.

"Over 10 years it was a labor of love restoring it, after the fire it was a complete loss, he has his master vision and we all joke that in the family that it was his last masterpiece," she said.
Farmer is one of the outgoing owners. Her family bought the building in 2007, and not only rebuilt it, but added a boutique hotel, a heated patio with igloos, a deck, and more.
She was peripherally involved with the business until late 2019, when she took over as the main operator. They were very successful during the pandemic, and her goal was always to make it a destination.
"What we were doing here with food and wine and it was something that was not anywhere," she said. "It kinda mirrored with the outdoor space, the hotel, and events kind of took over afterward."
Petit Poutinerie closing after 13 years of business
But after seven years, Farmer has closed the business. She said the business was impossible to maintain at the quality she wanted.
Farmer cited difficulty in finding consistent staffing and increase in costs, and alongside a change in consumer spending and dining habits.
She wanted to go out on a high note.
"I'm really grateful to know that people have such fond memories," she said. "We've taken my father in law's masterpiece and turned it into a really special business that has touched the hearts of a lot of people I realize.
"I'd rather go out with being able to really know that we did this place right and it was an incredible journey along the way," she said.
They're offering gift card refunds until the end of February.
