WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Kansas lawmakers congratulated President Trump following his inauguration. “I congratulate President Trump on his inauguration and hope for a smooth transition today," says Governor Laura Kelly in a news release from her office. “I look forward to working with his administration and making sure the voices of Kansans are heard in Washington, D.C.” Congressman Tracy Mann posted to Facebook, "Congratulations President Donald J. Trump on your swearing in as the 47th President of the United States." Representative Sharice Davids issued a statement following the inauguration: "Kansans know I will work with anyone when it's good for our state, and that includes the newly inaugurated President Trump. While I've often disagreed with him, we've found common ground when it benefits local communities, and I'm confident that will continue. At the same time, I won't hesitate to stand up to extreme policies that harm hard-working families, from attacks on reproductive rights to threats to Social Security and affordable health care. My focus is on uniting across party lines and making lives better for Kansas families by driving down costs and creating good-paying jobs. " Senator Roger Marshall took to X, formerly Twitter to issue his statement: "Congratulations to Donald J. Trump on being sworn in today as the 47th President of the United States. It is a new day in America filled with hope and patriotism! Together we are going to get this country back on track again, we will secure our border, support our farmers, bring back peace through strength, bolster our economy, restore law and order, and much much more. Let's make America great again, Mr. President. Welcome back!" Senator Jerry Moran posted a photo to X as President Trump took the oath of office with the caption, "The 47th President of the United States!"
