CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Harmony House of Western Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate hospice care, is inviting members of the community to learn more about volunteer opportunities at a recruitment event later this month. Attendees will have the chance to meet current volunteers and staff, hear about their experiences, and ask questions about the various roles available at Harmony House. The Chicopee-based nonprofit is a social model hospice home that provides a peaceful and supportive environment for individuals nearing the end of their lives. Far from being a place of sadness, the home is described as one of "joy and peace," offering dignity and compassion to its residents. Harmony House is seeking volunteers to assist in a wide range of functions, including: Caregiving: Providing hands-on support and comfort to residents Companionship: Spending time with residents to offer emotional support and reduce loneliness Household Tasks: Cleaning, outdoor maintenance, and general upkeep of the home Fundraising Support: Assisting with staging and promoting events to support the nonprofit's mission Volunteers of all skill levels and availability are welcome, and the organization emphasizes that even a small time commitment can make a big difference.
