BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A man from Taunton was sentenced to prison for selling counterfeit pills to an undercover officer and 10,000 pills were found during a search warrant. Injured hawk rescued by Chicopee Police In a news release from the Department of Justice in Boston, 29-year-old Shavon Gurley was identified as a suspect involved in trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine along with a Brockton-based drug trafficking organization. During the investigation, Gurley sold 6,000 counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine, weighing over a kilogram, to an undercover officer on Aug. 5, 2024. Gurley, who was on pretrial release for a domestic violence offense, told the undercover officer that he would also drop the price per pill if they bought 10,000 or 20,000 pills. He talked about his drug operation and how he sold kilograms of fentanyl for $30,000 and higher quality for $50,000. During the transaction, he complimented the undercover officer’s “aura” and promised to do business with the officer in the future. Department of Justice During a search warrant conducted at the home and vehicle of Gurley's, detectives seized a loaded firearm, two posters depicting cherubim with captions that read, “I Only Fear the Feds,” and “Rats Don’t Make it To Heaven,” a bag containing controlled substances believed to be fentanyl, as well as multiple plastic bags containing approximately 10,000 counterfeit Adderall pills believed to contain methamphetamine. Department of Justice in BostonDepartment of Justice in BostonDepartment of Justice in BostonDepartment of Justice in BostonDepartment of Justice in Boston The Justice Department said that Gurley has a lengthy juvenile record and criminal history that includes a number of prior firearm and violent offenses, including a 2012 conviction for assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon for attacking a man with a pistol and pointing the firearm at the victim’s head, for which he served a six to 10-year term in state prison. Gurley pleaded guilty to distribution and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams and more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. He was sentenced on Jan. 14 to 10 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release.
