ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Students at the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by getting out and serving the community. Six students from the ASLA's Beautification Program got their hands dirty doing yard work for a resident in the Los Griegos neighborhood.

School officials said the day can help students follow in MLK Jr.'s footsteps by working to make the world a better place. The clean-up is part of the school's day of service while also teaching students landscaping skills. The school said other students brought donations to Roadrunner Food Bank, the University of New Mexico pediatric unit, and Casa Esparanza.
