RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Lottery is launching its eighth annual Thank a Teacher Art Contest, with entries being accepted from K-12 students. According to Virginia Lottery, students are encouraged to create a work of art and enter it into the contest for the chance to have their artwork appear on thank you notes that will be given out to thousands of teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May. The Virginia Lottery said students are encouraged to create art that expresses their gratitude for Virginia's public school teachers. Submissions will be accepted online through Feb. 3. One winner will be selected at each level: elementary, middle and high school. According to the Virginia Lottery, the school that each winner attends will receive $2,000 from The Supply Room. The winning artist will reportedly receive a $200 Visa gift card.
