NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – One person is dead and four others were hospitalized following a fire in a multi-family home.
Fire officials were called to Cotter Street just after 1pm this afternoon for reports of a fire. Upon arrival, fire crews were met with heavy fire burning on the first floor extending to the second floor.
According to New Bedford Fire Chief Scott Kruger one person was found dead on the first floor. Fire officials rescued one person from the second floor of the building and there were several other tenants outside in need of medical care.
The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
