Find a warming center near you as bitter cold sets in

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The temperatures are well below freezing this week with the wind making it feel like the single digits at times.
This cold weather is especially dangerous for seniors, infants, those who work outdoors and people experiencing homelessness.

It's important to dress warmly when you leave the house. The National Weather Service advises wearing loose-fitting layers, moisture-wicking clothing and a hat.

The following emergency warming shelters will be open this week:

Central Falls
Forand Manor, 30 Washington St. – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily
Wilfrid Manor, 466 Hunt St. – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday to Sunday
Cranston
The Central Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Road – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday
