PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — AmeriCorps members and volunteers took some time Monday to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by helping people in need. As part of the annual MLK Day of Service, the volunteers set out to prepare 20,000 meal kits, which will be distributed through community organizations in Providence. "Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy is all about service, uniting people for the common good, and today we're doing that through food insecurity and making sure that more people have access to food," said Amanda Forget from AmeriCorps RI.
