Precautionary boil water advisory issued for several parts of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Sewerage and Water Board announced Monday, Jan. 20 that a precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for parts of the city.

The advisory has been issued for the following locations:
All of the Lower Ninth Ward (east of Industrial Canal to Parish Line)
New Orleans East: Chef Highway from Jourdan Road to Elaine St, Elaine St to Intracoastal Waterway, Intracoastal Waterway to Jourdan Road
New Orleans East: Hayne Blvd from Lucerne St to Wave Dr, Wave Dr to Morrison Ave, Morrison Ave from Wave Dr to Lucerne St, Lucerne St to Hayne Blvd
New Orleans East: All of Venetian Isles
SWBNO officials reported that the water pressure in the impacted areas fell below 20 psi due to an interruption in potable water pumping at the Carrollton Water Plant.
While the water pressure has since been restored, water quality samples have been collected for testing. Results may take up to 24 hours to achieve.
RTA services canceled for Tuesday citing incoming freezing weather
Until further notice, residents are encouraged to use bottles or boiled tap water for drinking, cooking, cleaning food or brushing their teeth.
Anyone with a compromised immune system should use safe water when washing hands or bathing.
