Lafourche Parish crash leaves pedestrian dead

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Cut Off woman dead in Lafourche Parish on Monday, Jan. 20.
The LSP reported that the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 3235 near Filton Lane around 2 a.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows that an 18-wheeler was driving south on Louisiana Highway 3235 while 61-year-old Lisa Cheramie was walking in the left southbound lane. The 18-wheeler then reportedly hit Cheramie.
Cheramie suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured.

According to the LSP, the driver of the 18-wheeler "was not suspected of being impaired and voluntarily provided a breath sample which showed no alcohol detected."
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
