MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Plenty of people were tuned in to President Trump's inaugural address Monday morning. Members of the religious community held a special listening session at Downtown Memphis' Church on the River. Around 100 people gathered at the Church on the River to hear what the new President of the United States would say in his inaugural speech. "America will soon be greater, stronger and far more exceptional than ever before," Donald Trump said during his inaugural address. Many sat motionless as President Trump laid out his plans for when he takes office. Men of Impact hold summit in honor of Dr. MLK Day Some even found parts of the speech humorous and reacted to changes to President Trump's plans. "How do you change it to the Gulf of America and how are you going to take back Panama today," Doug Insch asked. "How's that going to happen? It's just - it's sickening. The whole speech was sick." Members of the clergy, organized this listening session with a guide instructing people to listen for any signs of division or unity and if moral and spiritual values are uplifted. "As a community of faith, it's important for us to say that we are here and we love our communities," Dr. Karen Georgia said. "We want to continue to protect the human rights of all." And on the day that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered, leaders said this pilgrimage to Memphis was the right decision. MLK Day brings volunteers to Civil Rights Museum "Dr. King really laid out an agenda for the nation," Dr. Alvin O'Neal Jackson said. "And so, we thought that there wasn't any better place." "So, we've got to move towards some collaborative action," Terri Hord Owens said. "And for me, that's why we didn't want just another MLK memorial service. We need to see this as a real call to action and that's what we hope it can be." Right now, members of the faith community are holding a "moral mass meeting" at Healing Cathedral Christian Church on Elvis Presley Boulevard. There, they are giving their "prophetic response" to the inaugural speech.
