Kansas Cityarea school delays, closings Tuesday due to dangerous cold weather

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Multiple school districts in the Kansas City area are closing or delaying their start time for Tuesday morning due to dangerous cold weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the entire metro which will be in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until noon on Tuesday.

Wind chills are expected to be as low as 25 below which could cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes, according to the NWS.
Olathe, Blue Valley, Kansas City, Kansas, Turner and De Soto school districts have all announced that they will have a two-hour delay start time for Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Richmond and Lawrence school districts announced they will be closed on Tuesday.
Kansas City, Missouri, Raytown and Chillicothe school districts announced they will have an Alternative Method of Instruction Day on Tuesday and all buildings will be closed.
