Colts hire Lou Anarumo as new defensive coordinator
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts are hiring former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo as their new defensive coordinator, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Anarumo spent the last six seasons as the Bengals defensive coordinator. The Bengals made the Super Bowl in his third season in Cincinnati.
Anarumo was fired after the 2024 season. The Bengals defense was 25th in yards allowed (348.3 yards per game) and 25th in points allowed (25.5 points per game).
In those six seasons, he had a top ten defense in points allowed one time, in 2022. His highest ranking in total yards allowed in Cincinnati was 16th, also in 2022.
Anarumo has Indiana connections, as he spent eight seasons as Purdue’s defensive backs coach.
The Colts parted ways Gus Bradley, their former defensive coordinator, on January 6. Bradley spent three seasons with the Colts as their defensive coordinator.
