(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Southern Colorado political leaders shared congratulations after President Donald Trump was inaugurated on Monday, Jan. 20. Mayor Yemi Mobolade who was planning on attending the inauguration but was unable after it moved indoors shared his congratulations to President Trump. Mayor Mobolade also shared his belief about how important the tradition of the oath of office is and how it binds officials from hundreds of years of history. "Bipartisan collaboration with partners across all levels of government is important to ensuring the ongoing success of Colorado Springs, and I look forward to working with President Trump’s administration to bring new opportunities to our great city as we build a safe, economically prosperous, culturally rich, welcoming, and vibrant world-class American city on a hill that shines brightly," wrote Mayor Mobolade. Congressman Jeff Crank spoke about President Trump's inauguration as a message that it is a new day in America and a marked change in policies from the economy to immigration and energy efficiency. Congressman Crank said Congress now has a job to do and work with the President. "So there's so many big things that he's going to do and that he said he was going to do through executive action, but Congress has a job to do as well. We've got to follow that up and pass laws that will both enhance some of those executive orders. But also, we've got to change laws so that they are on the books. The law of the land, and can't be changed by another president," said Congressman Crank.
