President Trump expected to sign a slew of executive orders

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) -- President Donald Trump's first official order of business Monday came in a slew of executive action announcements.
"It's all about common sense," President Trump said after his swearing in as the 47th President of the United States.
The president first declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.
"All illegal entry will immediately be halted," President Trump said. "And we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came."
President Trump also issued executive orders on the economy, including ending electric vehicle mandates passed by the Biden administration.
"We will drill, baby, drill," the president said.
President Trump's actions will also stop the federal government from using diversity initiatives.
"We will forge a society that is color blind and merit based," the president said.
Both Congress and the courts can potentially block a president's executive orders. Democrats will oppose much of President Trump's actions, but Republicans are ready to turn them into legislation.
"These are things that we need to get to work on very quickly," said U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett (R-Mich.).
Barrett said the Republican-controlled Congress should easily deliver on President Trump's immigration policies, but U.S. Rep. Rudy Yakym (R-Ind.) said another promise may be more difficult: allowing more time for the sale of TikTok.
"There are very serious concerns about the Chinese Communist Party and what they do to this country through the use of TikTok," Yakym said. "But at the same time, the president's a master negotiator, and we trust him to do just that."
Many Republicans supported the law former President Joe Biden signed that required the sale of TikTok.
