Jan 20, 2025
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Winter weather could impact much of the Lowcountry this week as arctic air moves into the region, and an area of low pressure moves near the coast.
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a winter storm warning for Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, and Dorchester counties from 5 p.m. Tuesday until noon Wednesday.
Heavy snow is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches possible, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
“There is an enhanced risk for sleet occurring along the lower South Carolina coastal counties, especially inland of US 17,” the NWS said.
Schools announce schedule changes due to winter weather
Roads, specifically bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. People are encouraged to stay indoors until conditions improve and delay travel.
