AUSTIN (KXAN) — During the Biden administration's final hours, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed his 106th lawsuit against the administration for what he says is an unlawful ban on offshore drilling, according to a release from the office of the Texas Attorney General. Paxton and W&T Offshore, Inc. sued the Biden administration on Monday to prevent the former president's "unlawful restriction" of offshore drilling, the release said. RELATED: Biden announces ban on offshore drilling “In 2021, I became the first State Attorney General to sue Biden just three days into his failed administration. Now, I will be the last AG to sue Biden on his way out of Washington,” Paxton said. According to the release, on Jan. 6, then-President Biden called for a ban on offshore oil drilling off the East Coast, West Coast and part of the Gulf Coast under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act. Paxton said the law does not permit U.S. presidents to stop development in these areas without any limitations, and that Biden's actions would make America "less energy secure."
