ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Heavy snow fell across the the region this morning and amounted to over half a foot in spots. There will be some afternoon clearing, but temperatures drop. Expect many to finish with significant snowfall on the ground, some over half a foot of snow. The heaviest snow fell along Lake Ontario west of Rochester. Some areas like Kendall saw over a foot of snow. LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNINGS LAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY IN WYOMING AND GENESEE COUNTIES FOR SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATING SNOW WITHIN THE SNOW BAND OFF LAKE ERIE. Expect bitter cold air both Tuesday and Wednesday and that pairs with more heavy lake effect snow through tomorrow east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The snow east of Lake Erie will impact Wyoming County and occasionally over into Livingston and Ontario County as well. Temperatures and wind chills are the story through the rest of the week. Numbers fall into the single digits through Tuesday and even below zero Wednesday morning. Wind chills will regularly run -10 to -20° through this stretch. Expect temperatures to slowly warm up through the end of the week. There will be another system that swings in by Thursday and Friday that could bring in some more snow showers. 8-Day Forecast
