MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 55-year-old Coarsegold resident died in a crash Sunday morning on Highway 41 in Madera County, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP says the crash happened on Highway 41, at Road 209 around 9:15 a.m. Investigators say a 63-year-old Fresno Resident was driving a white 2000 Honda Civic, traveling southbound on Highway 41, approaching Road 209. CHP says the 55-year-old Coarsegold resident was driving a blue 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, northbound on Highway 41, approaching Road 209 in the left turn lane.  According to investigators, the driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt made a left turn toward Road 209, directly in front of the white Honda Civic. The Fresno resident took evasive action by swerving to the right but due to the proximity, the front of the Honda Civic crashed into the right front of the Cobalt.  The driver of the Cobalt was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, CHP says. The Fresno resident Civic was wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries from the crash. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
